BEAST GAMES

Suspended from the ceiling at the top center is a large glass display case hanging by thick metal chains. Inside is an overflowing pile of cash: neatly stacked bundles of US dollar bills mixed with coins. A metal plaque reads "$1,000,000". The money glows slightly brighter than the rest of the scene.

The floor is filled with hundreds of chimpanzees all dressed in dark human-like work attire. Each sits at a small wooden desk arranged in rigid rows creating a grid-like pattern stretching far into the distance. Every desk contains a typewriter, sheets of paper, coffee cups, ashtrays with cigarettes, small desk lamps, and occasional personal touches. Crumpled paper litters the floor between desks.

The chimps type on typewriters, read documents, smoke cigarettes, stare blankly at pages, or stand in the aisle reviewing papers like supervisors. Expressions range from bored and tired to anxious or resigned. None appear joyful.

Running down the middle is a wide aisle with a large white "X" painted on the floor near the foreground — worn and scuffed — symbolizing elimination, competition, or judgment.

The mood is cynical, absurd, bleakly humorous, and quietly oppressive. A darkly comic portrayal of endless competition in a closed system where intelligence and effort are expended en masse for a singular unreachable payoff.
